Educational and cultural enrichment programs are an important part of the school year. It allows students to be exposed to ideas, equipment and experiences that otherwise wouldn’t be available to them. An assembly show brings the school together for a special event, removing some of the isolation of the classroom. It makes students aware they are part of something bigger. It naturally builds citizenship among the students.
For the youngest students, it is great training for how to behave in group settings. For older students, it encourages them to pursue studies in various areas. For teachers, it (hopefully), builds on the classroom studies and presents vivid illustrations of class work.
Too often, the task of seeking out presenters and managing the scheduling assemblies falls on new PTA or PTO members, or is handed to a teacher who has not had these responsibilities in the past. It can be overwhelming.
I have put together this list to help you bring the best program to your school.
