Imagine wasting 7 minutes of your school day in the gym watching this guy. Sadly, for every great school show presenter, there are a hundred bad ones.
Every year, schools hire entertainers and presenters that they should not be hiring. Speakers, entertainers, and entertainment agencies often lie about their qualifications, charge you a LOT more than they should, end up turning your important assembly into an embarrassment and put your reputation on the line by presenting sub-par performances.
Hiring an in-school assembly presenter can be a DIFFICULT and STRESSFUL job. There are so many things to watch out for. Here is the undeniable truth:
When you have an assembly program in school, you are hiring a person to speak in front of a couple hundred students. This person must be experienced and equipped to maintain control and present ideas and concepts in a systematic and understandable manner.
An inexperienced presenter will waste you and your school’s time with outdated or wrong information on the subject you want a presentation for. Too many “performers” think they should be doing school shows when they ought o be washing dishes and doing open mic night at the comedy club.
Be sure you are getting a quality show and presenter.
1) ask for references
2) if dealing with an agency, ascertain which presenter they will send and his experience. Agencies often have a mixed stable of experienced and inexperienced presenters. Sometimes they hire any warm body to fill a schedule.
3) find out which core standards the show addresses. If the presenter cannot answer this, the show is not what you want.
